Integrating Skrill With Volusion

  1. Go to Settings > Payment.
  2. In the Gateway Name drop-down, select Skrill (Moneybookers) [SKRILL].
  3. In the Merchant Email field, enter the email that is registered with your Skrill merchant account.
  4. Select your Default Language and Default Currency.
  5. Click Save.

That's it! Your Skrill (Moneybookers) account is now integrated with your Volusion store.

Note on Configuring Your Payment Methods

All payment methods are configured from within your Skrill (Moneybookers) merchant account directly, so after configuring Skrill in the Payment Gateway tab you will not need to use the other features of your store's Settings > Payment page. All of these additional features will be disabled, allowing you to configure your accepted card types and additional payment methods within Skrill.

You should log in to your Skrill (Moneybookers) merchant account to set up specific payment methods.

Note on Editing Skrill Instructions on Checkout Page

Note that you can edit the default Skrill instructions on your checkout page. Simply go to Design > Site Content, click View List and click Search. Type "Skrill" into the Spot Key field. The result will be an article with a Spot Key of one_page_checkout_payment_info_skrill. You can click into this article to make edits and save.

Checking Out with Skrill

After browsing and adding items to the cart, customers will proceed to the checkout page, enter their address information, and make their shipping selection. When the customer clicks the Place Order button on your Volusion store's one-page-checkout.asp page, they will be taken to a Skrill (Moneybookers) page.

Registered Skrill (Moneybookers) Customers

If the email address entered on your Volusion store's checkout page is associated with an existing Skrill (Moneybookers) account, then the Skrill login page will display when the customer clicks Place Order.

  1. The customer will enter their Skrill (Moneybookers) Password and Security Number to log in.
  2. The customer can select a payment method that is already configured in their Skrill (Moneybookers) account, or choose to enter a new credit/debit card to pay.
  3. The customer will click Confirm to move to the Skrill (Moneybookers) Payment confirmation page.
  4. The customer must click Confirm again to send payment to your Skrill (Moneybookers) merchant account.
  5. If funds are available, a success message will display when the payment is complete and the customer will be automatically redirected back to your Volusion store's Orderfinished.asp page.
  6. If the transaction is declined or the transfer of funds fails, the customer will see a Skrill (Moneybookers) Transaction failed page. They can click to attempt payment again.

New or Unrecognized Skrill (Moneybookers) Customers

If the email address entered on your Volusion store's checkout page is not associated with an existing Skrill (Moneybookers) account, then a Skrill payment form will display where customers can enter their payment information manually without creating a Skrill account.

  1. The customer will be take to a Skill (Moneybookers) payment page, where their First name and Last name will already display from the information entered on the Volusion checkout page.
  2. The customer will select a Payment type from the drop-down menu, enter all payment information and click Confirm and Pay.
  3. If funds are available, a success message will display when the payment is complete and the customer will be automatically redirected back to your Volusion store's orderfinished.asp page.
  4. If the transaction is declined or the transfer of funds fails, the customer will see a Skrill (Moneybookers) Transaction failed page. They can click to attempt payment again.

NEW AND UNRECOGNIZED CUSTOMERS WITH ADDRESS ENTRY ERRORS

If your customer enters a Country value on your Volusion store's one-page-checkout.asp and the country does not match the address they entered, then the customer will be asked to create an account for security purposes.

Processing Orders With Skrill

Successful Payments

If your customer successfully completes their payment with Skrill (Moneybookers), then an Order is created in your Volusion store's Orders > Process Orders table:

  • The order's Status will be Processing.
  • The Payment Log will display the payment method the customer used in the Payment Type and Paid Via columns. The Payment Type will have a three-letter abbreviation of the payment method used by the customer. Contact Skrill (Moneybookers) for full details on each 3-letter Payment Type value.
  • The AuthCode will list the customer's email address.

Note on Pending Bank Transfers

It can take 2-3 days for a pending bank transfer to be completed. For this reason, the initial Order Status for pending bank transfers will be Awaiting Payment. Once the transfer is successful, the order's Status will change to Processing. If the transfer is unsuccessful, the order's Status will change to Cancelled. We recommend that you wait for the order's Status to update before shipping these orders.

Declined Payments

If your customer's payment type declines or fails for any reason, an Order is created in your Volusion store's Orders > Process Orders table:

  • The order's Status will be Cancelled.
  • The Payment Log will display a Payment Type of Failed and the Skrill (Moneybookers) decline message will display.

Incomplete Orders

If you customer closes their browser or otherwise leaves the checkout process after clicking Place Order on your store's checkout page, then an Order is created in your Volusion store's Orders > Process Orders table:

  • The Order Status will be Awaiting Payment.
  • The Payment Log will be empty.

Because the customer never takes action to Cancel their order, these orders will not be cancelled automatically. If you see an order which has the above indicators and is not updated within 24 hours, you should not ship the order and change the Status to Cancelled.

Summary

Take your small business as big as you’d like, with options that allow you to broaden your customer base with little fuss. Opening up the gateway to global payment processing with Skrill is just one way that can take you to there!
