Our new Premium Checkout feature is available on a limited basis to our merchants. If you do not currently have access to this feature and are interested in it, please contact us. This video will show you our Premium Checkout in action.

Accessing Premium Checkout

To access our Premium Checkout feature, from your store's Dashboard menu, choose Settings > Checkout.

To activate Premium Checkout on your site, click the Premium Checkout checkbox and then click the Save button at the top right of the page.

You can now make choices on the design of your checkout page.

Styling

The Styling section allows you to edit the logo that is shown at checkout. You can enter a text version of the logo by typing it in the Logo (Text Version) field. Please be aware that a text logo will display ONLY if no logo image has been uploaded.

A Logo Image is displayed, showing the uploaded logo, and below that is a file uploader that allows you to add a custom logo. To upload a logo image, click the Upload a file link and choose your image from your files, or drag and drop an image from your files into the field. PNG, JPG and GIF images of less than 10MB size are supported.

Click the blue Save button located at the top left of the page to save any changes.

In the Styling section you can also choose a custom color for the buttons on your checkout page. To change colors, click the Primary Color field. This will open the color chooser popout. Choose your color using the field or slider controls, or alternatively, enter a Hex or RGB code. A sample button will show how your color choice will look on the checkout page.

Make sure to click the blue Save button located at the top right of the page to save any changes.

Advanced Features

In the Advanced section you have to option to further configure your checkout settings.

Email Opt In

You have to option to gain your customer's permission to send them newsletters and other promotional information. With the Email Opt In checkbox checked, your customers will see the option to receive this email. The Message text fields allow you to customize the messages shown in each area of checkout by replacing the current Message Text.

Click the Save button at top right to save your changes.

Order Comments

You have the option to disable a customer's ability to add comments to their order. In the event the Enable Order Comments checkbox is unchecked, this field will not be offered at checkout.

Volusion Logo

The Volusion logo can also be removed from your custom checkout page by unchecking the Enable Volusion Logo checkbox.

As with any changes, click the Save button at the top right to complete your changes.

Smarty Streets Address Verification

Our Premium Checkout feature also offers address verification via Smarty Streets. To activate this feature scroll down the page to the Advanced section. Check the Enable Address Verification checkbox (if it is not already checked), and click the blue Save button at the top right of the page.

Additional Features

PayPal Integration

Our new PayPal Integration offering PayPal Credit and Pay Later options is available only on Premium Checkout.

Adding Amazon Pay to Premium Checkout

Amazon Pay is also available on our Premium Checkout feature.

1. Sign in to your merchant account on Amazon Seller Central, and then in the Marketplace switcher drop-down list (near the upper right corner of the page), select Login with Amazon.


2. In the Application Information section, the Name listed should be the name that your customers know your business by.


3. In the Web Settings section, the Allowed JavaScript Origins setting should show the full secure URL of your site using the format https://www.domainname.com. In particular, the URL must be set to https.


4. In the Web Settings section, the Allowed return URLs setting should show the following two addresses: https://www.domainname.com/one-page-checkout.asp and https://www.domainname.com/checkout/

Once this is complete, use the steps outlined in our Using Amazon Pay With Volusion article to activate Amazon Pay on your store.

Custom Fields

Custom Fields can be used with the Premium Checkout feature. In order for the Custom Field to appear, the Show On Prime Checkout checkbox must be checked in the Details section of the Custom Field.

HTML <a> tags are supported for both the Question and Question SubText fields for creating links. HTML is not supported in any other fields, and only <a> tag functionality is supported. For example:

Guest Checkout

With Premium Checkout your customers will have the option of either creating an account for checkout, checking out with an existing account or checking out as a guest. If you want to require your customers to create an account for checkout you can uncheck the Config Variable Allow Anonymous Checkouts in Settings > Config Variables.

With this Variable unchecked, your customer will be required to create a password prior to being allowed to checkout.

Customer Experience

How Will It Look?

When shoppers proceed to the new Premium Checkout experience, they will be presented first with any payment options that are handled through 3rd party sites, such as PayPal, or Amazon Pay (if these are active on the site).

Shoppers will be asked to enter their email address to receive order updates, and will have the option of logging in if they already have an established account.

Shoppers will then be asked to enter their Shipping Address information. Additionally, checkboxes allow them to designate their address as Residential or Business, and indicate if they wish to receive promotional emails from the site.

After entering their shipping information, shoppers are offered all applicable Shipping Methods. After choosing one, they can click the Continue To Payment button to proceed with Checkout.

On the following page, the fields show the information from the previous page, including shopper email address, Ship To address and Shipping Method choice.

Shoppers will then see a Payment section that will allow them to enter their Credit Card information, or choose any alternative payment methods available on the site.

Shoppers can choose to use their previously entered Shipping Address as their Billing Address, or enter a different billing address.

Shoppers will have the option to checkout as a guest by unchecking the Save My Information For A Faster Checkout checkbox. Shoppers wishing to create an account can enter a password that will be saved when they checkout.

Order Comments can be added by expanding the Add Order Comment field. Clicking the Pay button will complete the checkout process.

The existing classic ‘Order confirmation / Thank you page’ will show once an order has been submitted.

Returning Customers

Returning shoppers will be prompted to login if they enter an existing email address on the checkout page.

Shoppers who are logged in will be presented the One-click Checkout experience. They will not need to fill out their address or payment information a second time.

Checking Out With Gift Cards

Premium Checkout will work with Volusion store-generated gift cards (gift certificates).

From your store's Admin Dashboard, navigate to Settings > Config Variables. Using the Search button, search the name field for "Gift". This should bring up the Enable Gift Certificates variable. Make sure the checkbox is checked and click the blue Save button at the top of the page.

Gift Cards are now active on your store. On checkout, when your customer is presented with payment options, they will now see an Add Gift Card option.

Clicking this link will open a Gift Card Number entry field.

Enter the Card Number and click the green Apply button to add the Gift Card to the order. Your customer will see a message indicating that the Gift Card has been added. In the event that there is still a balance due on the order, they will have the opportunity to add an additional payment method for the balance. Additionally, a Remove link is available to remove the Gift Card.

The Gift Card is listed in the Order Summary as well. to indicate to the customer that it was added.
