Ever notice how two people can take the same group of objects and organize them in completely different ways? 👨 👩 It’s all about what makes sense to you — and what will help your shoppers easily find what they’re looking for.
That’s why we offer different ways to group products. If you would like to organize products by criteria such as price, stock quantity, manufacturer, etc. — rather than by category — you can use the Custom SQL Filter in the Category Advanced Settings.
😀 ⚠️️ Friendly warning: Only merchants who are familiar with Structured Query Language (SQL) should edit categories using the Custom SQL Filter field. If you know all about it, great! (You’re so smart! 🤓 ) If not, there are lots of experts out there that can help you out … but our tech support team can’t at this time. (Sorry! 😞 )
Let’s take price as an example of an advanced way to organize your products:
- Log in to your Admin Area and go to Inventory > Categories
- Hover over the category you want to modify and click Edit
- Enter the price range you want to configure for the category into the Category Name field (e.g. Summer Shoes Under $60!).
- Under the Advanced Settings > Misc tab, enter the SQL query you want to use in the Custom SQL Filter field
- Click Save
Now your shoppers can view products by price, making it easier for them to find exactly what they’re shopping for at the right price point.
Category Advanced Settings gives you the flexibility to group your products in ways that make sense to you and your customers. If you’ve got the SQL skills to pay your bills, customize your categories to your heart’s content.
