Disclaimer: We recently redesigned our Admin Area. Your store may look different than the one shown in this video, but most click paths were not affected.
After you’ve set up custom checkout fields, you need to add content to the drop-down menu so customers have options to choose from.
To add selections to a custom checkout field drop-down menu, go to Settings > Custom Fields in your Admin Area, select Custom Fields Dropdown Values from the Filter drop-down, and click Add.
From the Custom Fields ID menu, select a custom field alias.
The Title is the storefront selection available to customers in the drop-down menu. The Value is how that selection is recorded on the order details page or customer account page. In many cases, the two can be synonymous, but you can use the Value for an abbreviated version of a long title.
Note that the Title can exceed the Input Max Length on the custom field record, but the Value cannot.
The Placement Order corresponds to vertical position in the drop-down menu. The lower the number, the higher the position. If you leave this field blank, they’ll be sorted alphabetically.
Now, on the checkout page, the selections appear in the drop-down menu, and the answer appears on the customer account page.
