A splash page is a great way to welcome your customers with a friendly message π and to help guide them to your goods. β‘οΈ ποΈΒ
It generally consists of a static HTML page displaying some form of text, images, logos or basic information about the site, with a link to your storefront and/or other websites.Β
You can use your splash page as a first stop, from which shoppers can navigate to either your store or your blog, if you host them separately. Or you can use it to showcase special offers or new products. Isnβt that smart! π€π
Adding a Splash Page
After you've created your splash page using an HTML editor like Adobe Dreamweaver, you can integrate it with your store in a few steps:
- Log in to your Admin Area and go to Design > File Editor.
- Click the default.htm link in the Shortcuts table.
- Copy and paste the HTML from the splash page into the default.htm file.
- Click Save.
Once this is complete, anyone who visits your store's URL will land on the splash page instead of your storefront.
Removing a Splash Page
To remove a splash page:
- Go to Design > File Editor.
- Remove all content from the default.htm file.
- Click Save.
Note
If the splash page is configured to display any images, these images will need to be uploaded to your store via FTP or linked to from an external, online source in the splash page's HTML code. Image files can be uploaded to any directory in the /v/vspfiles/ directory in your FTP account.
For more information on how to connect to your store via FTP, see "How to Set Up Your Volusion FTP (SFTP) Account".
