This formatting isn’t ideal for search engines, but you can optimize it like this:


To do so, simply modify the same field you used to create the link, in the video called "How to Link to a Custom Article". To locate the field, go to Inventory > Categories in your Admin Area, click Edit next to the category name, expand the Advanced Info section, click the Misc tab, and locate the Alternate URL field. Here, enter the new URL format and save.

The method you use to further customize article pages for search engines depends on the article type. For a custom article you created from scratch, go to Design > Site Content, click View List, then Search. Enter the name you titled the article in the Article Title field, and click the orange Search button. If it doesn’t have a value in the Article Title field, enter a portion of the content in the Article Body field, and click the orange Search button. Then expand the Search Engine Optimization tab.

In the case of a default article with a dot-ASP URL extension, like About Us, you’ll find these fields at Marketing > SEO by clicking the related page name on the left.

The Meta Tag Title displays on browser windows and tabs.

The Meta Tag Description typically contains two to five brief sentences about the page content. It’s most often used as a page summary.

The Meta Tag Keywords field should contain five to ten key words or phrases that reference important page content. Neither of these fields appear on the storefront, but search engines use them to index your pages more accurately.

Data you enter in the Default Values tab populates to all blank fields in this section of the Admin Area. This can be useful if you choose not to individually customize the data for each page listed.
