With Volusion’s Product Accessories features, you don’t ever have to miss out on an opportunity to showcase all the possibilities for your customers — or capitalize on all the profit potential for you.

Enabling Product Accessories

Follow these steps to enable the Product Accessories feature:

From your store's Admin Dashboard, go to Inventory > Products.

Click the three-dot action menu icon at the top right of the page.

Select All Products Settings from the dropdown menu.

There are several Accessory related options on the All Products Settings menu:

Enable Products as Accessories

Select this if you want to assign products as accessories of other products. Choosing this setting enables you to assign products as accessories of other products and creates an Add Accessories field within each product's Advanced Info > Misc. section. A maximum of 8 Accessories will display on a single product. In some cases the 8 Accessory limit can be circumvented using custom coding. Click the Save button at the bottom of the menu after clicking the Enable Products as Accessories checkbox.

Related Products & Accessories Position

This feature lets you select the position for product accessory display. Use the dropdown menu to choose Right of Product Description or Below Product Description to select the position of your accessories and click the Save button at the bottom of the menu.

Enable Accessories Quick Add

Choosing this setting will display checkboxes on your storefront next to all accessories configured for this product. This way, customers can easily add them to their shopping cart. Click the Enable Accessories Quick Add checkbox and then the Save button at the bottom of the menu.

⚠️  Good to know: The Enable Accessories Quick Add option does not work on accessories with options.

Enabling Config Variables

There is a Config Variabls that also needs to be turned on for accessories to work correctly. To enable this, from your store's Admin Dashboard, go to to Settings > Config Variables.

Enable Related Products and Accessories on Shopping Cart

Choosing this setting ensures that products configured as accessories are automatically displayed at the bottom of the customer's shopping cart page. To enable this Variable, use the Search function and enter "accessories" in the Name field. The first Variable shown should be Enable Related Products and Accessories on Shopping Cart. Click the checkbox for this Variable and then click the Save button at the top right of the page.

Configuring Product Settings

Now, go to Inventory > Products, choose the product to which you want to add your accessory and locate the Misc tab under Advanced Info. 

In the Add Accessories field, enter the product codes of accessories for this product (separated by commas and without spaces). Click the Save button at the top right of the Product page.

Your Accessory will now show on the customer-facing product page in the Related Product section. On the storefront view of your product you can edit the title of the Accessory field by hovering over the text. 

Free Accessories

Shoppers love deals.  To help them feel like they’re getting more for their money, you might consider bundling several products for the price of one. To do so, you can choose a main product and add the others as free accessories of it. 

Within your product’s page on the Misc tab under Advanced Info, there is an Include Free Accessory field where you can enter product codes (separated by commas) and quantities (within parenthesis after the product code) for as many products as you would like to assign as “free accessories.” Example: GI-381(2),TZZ-887,CX-46377(8),AMC-101(2). Click the Save button at top right when you have added your free accessories.

When a product configured with free accessories is added to a customer's shopping cart, the associated free accessory product(s) will be added to the cart simultaneously.

The “free accessory” products will not be charged to customers, nor will their weight values be used to calculate overall shipping charges.

If you prefer that the “free accessory” product(s) not display as such on the main product’s page, you can select the Hide Free Accessories checkbox within the Advanced Info > Misc.

Note that if you apply any accessories to multi-child add to cart products, the accessories should allow back orders or should not track stock at all. If the stock count falls below zero for an accessory that doesn't allow back orders, customers will receive an error when they add the original product (along with other multi-child add-to-cart items) to their cart.

⚠️ Good to know: You cannot use products with options as accessories.
