Welcome back! This is Graham with Volusion. Last time, we learned about incorporating tax and shipping costs. Now we’ll take a look at adding company information to let shoppers know all about us. This is important if you want to present yourself as a legitimate business. But don’t worry, you can be fun, too!

Pages without products or categories are called articles. Each store has a few of them already set up, but they contain generic information that’s meant to be customized. Depending on your template, they might be in the header or the footer.

In this case, they’re all in the footer. As you can see, we’ve got an About Us page, a Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, and so on. Let’s edit the About Us page so we can let people know the important parts of the Volusion Vintage story.

The great thing about articles is you can edit them from the storefront wherever you come across them. So there’s no need to go find the corresponding edit page in Admin Area unless you need to change the advanced settings, which we’re not going to worry about now. To make changes, be sure your Storefront Editor is turned on in the Volusion Toolbar, then hover over the content and click Edit. I’m going to delete this generic text and work from a blank slate.

I’ll add info about the company’s origin at the top. Then I want to mention the current state of the business, so I’ll follow with that.

I can style lots of different aspects of my text, including the font type, color, size, and alignment. Once it looks the way I want it, I’ll add a picture.

To do that, I’ll just click where I want the picture to go, then click Insert Image, and drag in my photo. If you do this, it’s best to use a photo that’s been resized specifically for the area you want to add it to. If you don’t know how to do that, though, you can resize it here. Just grab the corner and bring it in until you like the size, then let go of it. I also want my picture to sit beside the text, not on top of it like this. To fix that, I’ll click the image, then Edit, then change the Position to Left and save. As you can see, the image now sits beside the text nicely. You can also set it to the right if you like. So now the page is looking pretty good. But what if I want to include a page that doesn’t exist yet?

To do that, I’ll go to Design > Site Content. Here you’ll see a list of all the articles on your site. Click View List in the top right, and then Add.

The only required field here is Category ID, and this is just a way for your store to group the article in the Admin Area list you just saw. I’ll choose Company Information. You can fill out the Article Title and Article Caption if you want, but these are both customer-facing fields that create a bold heading and an italicized subheading, respectively. You can create the same effects using the editor functions in the Article Body, only with finer control. I want this page to be about how Volusion Vintage helps its community by donating clothes to non-profit organizations. So I’ll go ahead and quickly fill this in, then save. To preview it, click View Live Article Page at the top left.

So my article is finished, but there’s no way to get to it from the homepage or any other storefront location. A visitor would have to know the exact URL. To fix that, I'll add a link to my nav menu.

Keep this page handy by opening a new window or tab, and then go to Inventory > Categories. Create a category like you normally would. I’ll call mine "Community Involvement", and I'll make it a primary category in Nav Menu 1. Then I’ll go to the Advanced Info section and click the Misc tab.

Now I’ll grab the URL from the article window I left open. It’s best to only copy the part that follows ".com" or ".net", or whatever your domain name ends in. That way, if you change your store’s domain name in the future, you won’t have to come back and change your Admin Area settings.

Now I’ll go back to my category page, paste in the Alternate URL field, and save. There we go! The new article shows up in my nav menu.
