Disclaimer: We recently redesigned our Admin Area. Your store may look different than the one shown in this video, but most click paths were not affected.
Hi, my name is Christine and I want to welcome you to Volusion. Congratulations on deciding to open an online store! You’ve taken an exciting step, but getting up and running requires the right resources. And that’s why my fellow Volusioneers and I are here: to make this new venture as easy and efficient as possible. So if you’re ready to begin, follow me!
There are two main systems that make up your Volusion account: your store Admin Area and MyVolusion. You’ll spend most of your time in the Admin Area. It’s unique to you and your company; it’s where you’ll design your website, add products, and process customer orders. MyVolusion is for all Volusion merchants. It’s where you’ll manage your business relationship with us, including contact info, identity verification credentials, billing details, secure communications, and plan features. Let’s take a closer look at MyVolusion.
When we processed your order and set up your store, we sent you a welcome email with login information. To log in, follow the link in the email, or type “my.volusion.com” in your browser address bar.
If this is your first time here, you’ll be asked to pick a secret question and give the answer. We’ll use this to verify your identity whenever you contact us by phone or chat, so pick something easy to remember, but not so easy that other people can guess it.
Now let’s take a look at the headings on the left: in particular, My Account, My Tickets, and My Stores. My Account is where you’ll view, manage, and update your store’s billing and plan information. My Tickets is where you’ll create and view secure text communication with us. And My Stores is where you create your email accounts. It also includes a quick way for you to get to your Admin Area. MyVolusion is an important part of your account, so take a few minutes to explore it. If you have any questions, you can search our Knowledge Base.
Now let’s check out your Admin Area. As I showed you just a second ago, you can get to the login page from MyVolusion, but you can also get there from your welcome email. At first, the email address and password will be the same as the one you use for MyVolusion, but be careful because they’re different systems. You’ll have to change your Admin Area password on a regular basis for security reasons, so they may get out of sync. You can always get back in by clicking Forgot your password? and following the prompts.
Once you’re inside, you’ll see the Dashboard, which gives you a bird’s-eye view of how your store has been doing over the past week, the past month, and the past three months. Notice the eight tabs at the top of the page.
You can get back here at any time by clicking Dashboard. The Orders section is where you’ll manage and process customer orders. The Customers section is where you’ll manage your customer and administrator accounts. In Inventory, you’ll manage your products and the merchandising categories they belong to. In Marketing, you’ll create promotions for your store and connect with your customers through social media and newsletters. Design is where you’ll manage the look and layout of your store. Reports is where you’ll get more detailed and customized information on how your store is doing. And in Settings, you’ll set up your company information, payment acceptance details, and tax and shipping options.
If you have questions about anything in the Admin Area, hover over Get Help and click Get help with this page. You can also find field-specific help by clicking a tooltip icon, or the field name itself if you see a dotted line underneath it. And keep our Knowledge Base in mind. It’s the most extensive source of Volusion product information available, with hundreds of helpful articles and videos. If you hover over your name in the top right, you’ll find your store ID number. Whenever you call in to our Support team, you’ll need to punch this in, so it’s a good idea to be in your Admin Area whenever you call.
To see your storefront the same way customers do, click View Storefront in the special toolbar at the top. This is the Volusion toolbar. It sticks around even when you’re looking at the front of your store, as long as you're logged in as an admin. It gives you some powerful options and useful links.
Hopefully this video allowed you to get better acquainted with your account. When you’re ready, check out our next episode for information about establishing your brand. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a call to take. Thank you for calling Volusion Support, this is Christine. Can I have your domain name, please?
