You can enter SEO data for each product and category individually. Though this can be very time consuming if you have many products, it is a great way to increase your SEO ranking. You can also access general settings from Marketing > SEO. This will let you enter default values, which will fill in if you do not have any other meta information entered.

The Meta Tag Title should be a short and simple title that sums up the page or product, and only a maximum of 50 characters long. Try to work in your two most important keywords into your title along with your brand name, but make sure that it is relevant to your store. Meta Tag Descriptions are where you can enter your detailed information. These should be composed as though you were speaking to another human and can be up to 255 characters long.

It is always best to work the keywords in as naturally as possible. More like key phrases. You would use short, almost conversational phrases with your keywords in them. The latest that I have heard is that it is a good idea to work keywords into your Meta description and wherever appropriate, to include them in product titles and descriptions. As far as the Keywords section of our Meta Tag info, we recommend leaving this blank since competitors are more easily able to pull a list of the keywords  you are using if it is filled out.

It can take up to 2 weeks for search engines to crawl and index your store. Building up a good SEO ranking takes time since you are needing to compete with other sites that have been established longer, and in some cases, even your own Facebook pages for your store if those have been around longer than your site.

This is why it is so important to fill out the SEO sections for your store under Marketing>SEO as well as the SEO information for products and categories. The SEO information is how search engine bots know what is on your site and they are able to connect key search terms to your content.
