If you find that certain characters – like "curly" quotes, currency symbols, and other non-standard characters – don't display correctly on your storefront, you may be using the wrong character set.

To make sure your store uses the right character set:

  1. Go to Settings > Config Variables.
  2. Click Search, enter "character" in the Name field, and click Search.
  3. The Character Set variable should have a value of "UTF-8". If not, change it to this value.
  4. Click Save.

This should fix any errant characters that are being displayed incorrectly due to encoding / rendering.

If you are still having problems, you may need to export the tables to a spreadsheet or text editing program like Excel, and use Find and Replace to fix any remaining incorrect characters. See "All About Import/Export" for further information.
