A great way to increase your sales is to show customers the accessories that are available for the products they purchase. The Product Accessories features enable you to do this.
Enabling Product Accessories
Go to Inventory > Products, click the three-dot actions menu icon, and select All Products Settings.
Enable Products as Accessories
Select this if you want to assign products as accessories of other products. It enables the Add Accessories field within each product's Advanced Info > Misc section.
Related Products and Accessories Position
This feature lets you select the position for product accessory display.
Enable Accessories Quick Add
Displays check boxes on the storefront next to all accessories configured for this product so that customers can easily add them to their shopping cart. Note that this option does not work on accessories with attributes.
Enabling Config Variables
Next, go to Settings > Config Variables.
Enable Related Products and Accessories on Shopping Cart
Select Enable Related Products and Accessories on Shopping Cart so products configured as accessories are automatically displayed at the bottom of the customer's shopping cart page so they can see other products that might interest them.
Configuring Product Settings
Now, go to Inventory > Products and find the Misc tab under Advanced Info. Here you will see the following field:
In the Add Accessories field, enter the product codes (separated by commas and without spaces) of accessories for this product. If you sell a stereo system, for example, you can encourage the purchase of accessories such as headphones, audio cables, batteries, etc.
Once you apply accessories to your product, click Save.
On the storefront view of your product which has accessories added to it, you will be able to edit the title of the Accessory field by hovering over the text.
You may want to set up a kit / bundle item which includes several products all for one price. You can use the Free Accessories field for this purpose.
Within your products page on the Misc tab under Advanced Info, there is an Include Free Accessory(s) field where you can enter product codes and quantities (see below for format) to assign products as free accessories.
Note that you can assign as many free accessories here as required. Accessories entered in this field will not be charged to customers, regardless of the product price assigned to the product nor will the weight values of products assigned as accessories be used to calculate overall shipping charges.
When a product configured with free accessories is added to a customer's shopping cart, the associated free accessory products will be added to the cart simultaneously.
When configuring multiple accessories, separate product codes using commas. To specify the quantity for an accessory, enter it within parenthesis after the product code. See below:
You will also see a Hide Free Accessories check box within the Advanced Info > Misc area so you can add free accessories to a product without displaying them on the product's page.
Note that if you apply any accessories to multi-child add to cart products, the accessories should allow back orders or should not track stock at all. If the stock count falls below zero for an accessory that doesn't allow back orders, customers will receive an error when they add the original product (along with other multi-child add-to-cart items) to their cart.
A similar feature is the Related Products option. For more information on related products, please refer to the Related Products article.
Using Products With Options as Accessories
Note that you cannot use products with options as accessories as there is currently no way for these options to be presented and selected.
