To display a product in the pre-configured homepage areas, go to Design > Product Display Settings in your Admin Area and make sure the section you would like to utilize is enabled. Then, navigate to Inventory > Products, and select a product you would like to add to this section. Under the product’s Advanced Info section, select the Product Display tab and choose an option from the Feature Product on the Home Page dropdown.

Each selection corresponds to a specific location on the home page:

The Home Featured option displays on the storefront, but it’s not labeled unless you're showing at least one of the other sections. To override this, go to Settings > Config Variables, and click the Search button. Enter the word "featured" in the Name field, and click Search. Then, select Home Page Force Featured Products Image, and save.

This is the Home SuperDeal assignment.

This is the Home TopSeller assignment.

And this is the Home New assignment.

Note that New Products and Top Sellers don't display a thumbnail image, a description, or extra pricing information. You can only assign a product to one of these areas at a time, and the products that display are randomly generated from all available products assigned to that area. You can use as many or as few of these home page sections as you like.
